One of the big trends sweeping across TikTok right now has people quoting all different kinds of internet memes and pop culture moments. Some are instantly recognisable; others are so niche that they feel like an inside joke for the "chronically online".

The videos start "The worst thing she can say is no, but what if she says ..." before the creator breaks into a quote from a video that's gone viral on social media or an iconic scene from a film or TV show.

The trend offers a window into the collective memory that TikTok users have built up over the last few years – a reminder of all the things we've watched and now absorbed into our humour.

If you're a subscriber to the Buzz service from Shooglebox – which surfaces and tracks TikTok trends, viral videos and memes – you'll have no problem recognising most of these catchphrases!

Archie Broadbridge

Archie Broadbridge has become known as the "man of many voices" for all the videos he's been posting on the trend. His videos have had 100 million views in a matter of weeks, with comments like "Your account has brought me much joy since finding it."

This one, quoting the "Yoo-hoo, big summer blowout!" scene from Frozen, is one of his biggest posts with more than 11 million views.

Some of the other impressions that Archie has done include:

Huey.co.uk

Someone else who's all over the trend is football content creator @huey.co.uk, with TikToks like this one impersonating Fabrizio Romano's "Here we go!" catchphrase whenever he announces a football transfer.

His "spot on" impression of Bundesliga commentators Derek Rae and Stewart Robson got more than eight million views, with the official Bundesliga account commenting, "She sounds like a 10/10".

Other versions of the trend

People are giving this TikToker an "instant follow" for nailing his impression of the iconic "I'm sorry to hear that your grandma passed away" scene from Educating Yorkshire that often resurfaces in memes.

"This is the most spot on impression I've heard" was just one of the great comments on this version of the trend recreating the famous scene in Gavin and Stacey where Doris explains to Gwen why she refused to make a salad for Neil the Baby's christening.

Several TikToks on the trend like this one reference the viral "I'm a female police officer" video of a policewoman angrily reacting to someone calling her a "he" outside the Blackpool Tower ballroom in 2022.

Australian radio presenter and comedian Liam Stapleton channelled Professor Snape in the first Harry Potter film when he tells the students "There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class."

And this different take on the trend used a video of Irish police famously doing the Jerusalema dance challenge that went viral during the Covid pandemic, with comments like "I will never understand what possessed them to do this?!"
