Lewis Capaldi loves Scottish granny’s TikTok rant about tinned macaroni

A Scottish granny’s funny TikTok rant about her dislike of tinned macaroni – and her favourite chilled supermarket version – has sparked warm-hearted conversation on social media and got a fantastic reaction from the manufacturer ... and Lewis Capaldi.

Some are calling for Scottish DJ Calvin Harris to remix her impassioned rant – in the same way a remix of a rant of his own went viral on TikTok.

Sophie posted the video of her gran telling her to help herself to food from the cupboard while criticising Sophie’s father for buying tinned macaroni cheese, saying: “I don’t know what’s gone wrong wi’ him ... I take the McIntosh macaroni... but no’ out o’ a tin”.

The video was shared to the Facebook group Scottish Banter where it prompted a conversation about the merits of tinned macaroni cheese.

Angus-based McIntosh of Strathmore make chilled packs of ready meals including their popular macaroni cheese, which is sold in most of the major supermarkets.

Their TikTok account quickly commented on the original video: “Macaroni in a tin is a CRIME” ... and followed up by sending Sophie a big food parcel of their chilled ready meals for her granny.

Sophie posted her granny’s grateful reaction in a second TikTok which has had more than 100k views in a day.

A third TikTok today with Sophie telling her gran Lewis Capaldi had liked her video has nearly 350k views. Her granny asked what exactly he’d liked: “Me, or the macaroni?... probably the macaroni!”

Sophie only set up her TikTok account in June but the evolving story of her granny and macaroni has helped her TikToks attract 75k likes already.
