TikTok has decided that the one thing the internet needs in 2026 is… thousands of people pretending to be owls!
The viral trend has quickly spread across the app as people joke about how an owl would hoot if it was from a particular country or city ... or if it was a celebrity or fictional character.
You can see lots of funny examples in this Shooglebox:
One TikToker, @kwabbie.k, has become well-known for his impressions and has done a whole series of them on his page. His impersonation of an owl from the Bronx has had more than eight million views.
TikTokers in the UK have been imagining owls from everywhere from South London and Essex to Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool.
"I actually NEED Obama to see this, I know he’d be so tickled" is what one comment said in response to this TikTok about Barack Obama as an owl.
"The second WHOOOOOOOOO! really delivered" on this impression of Michael Jackson as an owl.
And the impressions are even extending to old viral social media posts – like this one referencing the "I'm a female police officer" meme.
People are saying that these owl impressions have taken over their FYPs and they can't get enough of them:
"All of a sudden my FYP is filled with international owls and I love it"
"I liked one video now my fyp just international owls ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜"
"I've heard owls from around the world this week... this type of trend is why I stay on the internet 😂🥰🦉"
"Omg who started this trend 😂😂 I can’t stop watching them"
"This trend is exactly what the internet needs right now"
"This is literally the best internet trend we’ve ever come up with"
"Andddddd THIS is why I pay for internet. I don’t use my free will to my full extent"
