Meet TikTok's newest dessert obsession: the Japanese cheesecake.
This simple two-ingredient hack using a tub of Greek yoghurt and biscuits has quickly spread across TikTok and Instagram in the last week and those who've tried it are surprised that it "actually tastes like cheesecake".
The hack went viral in Japan where it's usually made by placing coconut sable cookies into tubs of Greek yoghurt. As it rests in the fridge, the biscuits absorb the moisture, softening into cake-like layers while the yoghurt becomes thicker and creamier.
Biscoff is a popular biscuit choice outside of Japan with FoodTokers like Eat With GG and Angelina PJ both rating it a "10 out of 10" dessert.
This food reviewer says she was "absolutely shook" by how good it was – so much so she describes it as "The best viral recipe I've ever tried."
Other people have used Oreos to create a cookies and cream cheesecake, or added extra flavours like double espresso to turn it into a tiramisu.
Emily Scott from @whatiateforbreakfast has even made a breakfast version with Weetabix in place of biscuits.
The trend's becoming so big that UK supermarkets and food brands have been quick to post their own twists on it – like M&S who say it's "A trend we're 100% on board with". They've recommended several different flavour combos including pairing their lemon and lime yoghurt with lemon and white chocolate cookies for a citrusy cheesecake.
