The latest viral food trend to take off on TikTok in the US and spread worldwide is a cream cheese and yoghurt dip loaded with finely chopped dill pickles, a splash of brine and all sorts of extras like jalapeños, spring onions, shredded cheese and bacon.
The Buzz service from Shooglebox has been tracking the trend from when it took off as a Super Bowl watch party snack in America to all the people now trying it in other countries including the UK, where one fan called it "an absolute party for the mouth".
How the pickle dip took off as a trend in the US
In America people have been buying big tubs of Grillo's Pickle Dill Spears, taking all of them out of the tub, finely chopping them and combining them in a bowl with all the other ingredients. The finished dip is put back into the Grillo's tub and served with tortilla chips on the side for dipping.
This TikTok showing how to make it got more than four million views – with comments like "This is all I needed to see to know it’s good."
Others were quickly influenced to try the recipe – with one fan going as far as to describe it as "the best dip I’ve ever had."
And it wasn't long before TikTok sensation Courtney Cook gave it a go. Courtney had it as a post-work snack and said it "went way harder than it needed to", inspiring hundreds more people to try it for themselves.

How people in the UK are making the pickle dip
With the Grillo's pickles brand not being available in the UK, people here are buying similar alternative brands – or just supermarket own-brand jars of pickles from places like Asda and Tesco.
British TikToker @kaiwillnotflop made his version with Mrs Ellwood's burger pickles, saying: "Just because we’re in the UK does not mean we can’t make the viral pickle dip. This tastes so good."
TikToker Sherene was also really impressed by it, telling her followers: "As someone from the UK, I can vouch that the viral pickle dip slaps."
She wasn't able to get her hands on some of the ingredients from the original recipe so came up with a few swaps – using Philadelphia instead of whipped cream cheese, and making a DIY ranch seasoning with parsley, garlic powder, onion granules, dill, black pepper and salt.
"Snack queen" Charlie Rewilding said the dip has "been in my dreams" and served her version in a bowl, rather than a jar, with some salt-and-chilli pork belly bites and Ritz crackers on the side for dipping. She loved it, describing the combo as "an absolute party for the mouth."
Others in the UK who've already tried it say they "honestly can’t get enough of this dip", that it's "definitely worth giving it a go", and "If you have a party and want a quick and easy dip, this is the one."
